Andy has Masters degrees in Creative Writing from University of East Anglia and Playwriting from University of Edinburgh.
His plays include Make-up, An(other) Inspector Calls, A Beginner's Guide to Populism, After We Danced, Are You Lonesome Tonight? A Bridge Game Too Far, Going For Gold, Heart Shaped Box, Mistaken For Strangers (co-written with Howie Ripley), Casual Encounters, and Boxes.
He has produced and directed plays in London, Edinburgh and Birmingham. Are You Lonesome Tonight? has been produced in the USA (2015, 2016 and 2019) and Australia (2024). Make-up has been part of online festivals in the USA, Australia and Ukraine. Its first US festival showing came on the same day as its last performance at the 2020 Brighton Fringe. Its Ukraine festival showing was on the one day off during the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The play was nominated for Best Production and Best Male Actor at the 2021 Buxton Festival Fringe and Best LGBTQ Production at the 2022 GM Fringe. A Beginner's Guide to Populism was nominated for Best New Writing at the 2018 Buxton Festival Fringe.
